watching this film left me with many unanswered questions. kon makes a brillant portrayal of the complex descent into madness. it was only after reading many analyses of the plot that i realized that kon purposely made his film mentally confusing. i feel as if he wanted this movie to be entirely up to the audience's interpretation. i think that this subjectivity adds more dimension to the film, as it allows watchers to create their own perception of mima kiragoe's story.

i originally wanted to review this film for myself, such as getting into all the specifics, but after reading many other analyses, i felt that my review would no longer be my interpretation, but rather a combination of other people's analyses. as an alternative, i've attached below some snippets of the one of the analyses that i enjoyed best. here is the link to the website. i've also attached the link to my letterbox for my personal rating of the film.
