hello everyone :) so today is january 30th, and right now, i’m currently sitting in the hair salon getting my roots + highlights retouched for the new year. i realized that i needed to get back in touch with my “weekly blog posts,” so i figured, “why not blog from the barber’s seat?” it’s not like i’m doing anything else at the moment, and plus, i’ve already taken most, if not all, of the quizzes on buzzfeed. from the quizzes, i found out that my aura is violet, that my mcu character is a mix between the scarlet witch and spider (cool red telekinetic/magic powers with a kinda socially awkward peter parker personality...i vibe), and that lady whistledown from “bridgerton” would actually “approve” of my presence if i were a fictional character in the tv series. there are more buzzfeed results, but i can’t list them all down without taking up this whole blog post.

here’s a before pic (keep reading to see an after one 👀)

what my phone sees while i’m aimlessly taking buzzfeed quizzes :) nice.

some recaps of today

today, i woke up at 7:30 with the intention of exercising before a “send-off/last goodbye type of brunch” with a friend at 10, but i ended up pressing the snooze button until it was time for me to start getting ready (shower/blow-dry/light makeup: foundation + powder + lipstick). there was no time for exercise :( oh well, i keep telling myself that “it wasn’t meant to be“ because it makes me feel better than actually calling my “sleep-in” an act of laziness 😬.

i drove down to south end and met elizabeth in the parking lot of “snooze an a.m. eatery” (the restaurant we planned to eat brunch at), BUT when we got there, the wait was estimated to be about 1 to 1 1/2 hours! on a regular day, i probably would have said yes to the wait, but we were hungry, i had a hair appointment at 1pm, and the restaurant looked pretty busy (people were filing outside). it was a last minute decision, but after about 15-20 minutes of deliberation, we decided to eat brunch at “alchemy at the c3 lab.”

this is probably the third time that i’ve eaten at this place (elizabeth’s first but my 3rd). i don‘t emphasize this bc i’m tired of the restaurant (it‘s great btw! love their japanese pancakes and their “heirloom tomato benedict” dish 😋). it’s just that i wanted to try someplace new today. unfortunately, all the other restaurants were either closed, too formal for our attire, or the wait time was too long. i still brushed my disappointment aside, and took it as a “sign” that we were to eat there.

in the end, everything worked out! the place wasn’t too crowded, the food was delicious, and the ambiance/scenery 👌 i ordered something new this time: “prosciutto de parma benedict” and “chocolate teddy graham speciality latte.” super delicious! elizabeth had the “portobello hash” and an iced latte with lavender syrup? (can’t quite remember, but we did accidentally pay for each other’s meals, and i have her receipt so i can check what she ordered later. it’s in the car or in my bag. idk. 😬). it wouldn’t be a trip to “alchemy” without getting their japanese pancakes; we ended split the dish (one pancake for each!)

the following pics = love ❤️ (thank you “alchemy at c3 lab” for saving the day and our hungry stomachs!)

some recaps of the week

i finally survived one FULL week of 2nd semester online classes! there were a few bumps, some stressors, and maybe one minor headache, BUT, like the last minute brunch decision, everything worked out just fine. the ship is still sailing (maybe).

i want to say that i’ve learned from last semester of online classes and adjusted to the new lifestyle in quarantine (what to avoid, what to do, etc.) because everything has been running smoothly so far (and i put in that in italics because i don’t want to jinx myself.) for this semester, i decided to lessen the amount credits i’m taking. i don‘t know what i was thinking last semester, but it was definitely too ambitious of me to take the regular amount of credits i would usually take if i were on campus. i guess i thought i could handle the same amount of workload with ease. i thought wrong lol. it was doable, but it was a lot. pandemic + reg. workload + isolation = stress-fest 😀.

i‘m trying to keep up with my “weekly bakes,” so on tuesday, i made some homemade cinnamon rolls. this time, i finally got the recipe right after three tries (i didn’t redo the recipe three times over in one day. tuesday’s attempt was actually the third time i ever made cinnamon rolls, and i was super lucky that they turned out well!)

i can bake weekly, but as someone who’s testing out “vlogging,” i’ve learned that the editing takes forever. sometimes i’ll have about 40 minutes worth of footage, and for the sake of a short and enjoyable blog, i‘ll have to condense everything into a small 4-minute video. for the first two videos, they took me about two days for each one. that was the only thing that i did for those four days: edit. but now that i have school to factor in, trying to get out a vlog each week is proving to be quite difficult for me. i’m really betting on the weekends to be the time when i can edit, but after this first full week of classes, the only thing i want to do is eat, sleep, and watch tv (i mean, i want to do all three of these things on a regular basis, but on the weekends, especially after a rough week of class, the “want” becomes a “need,” and i need to time to relax and unwind.

the after pic: finally out of the hair salon!

so i’m finally out of the hair salon! i highly recommend my hairstylist. her name is amber robbins, and she works at salon lofts in steele creek. she’s super sweet and talented! she cuts, styles, and colors hair incredibly well! i’ve been going to her for about two years now, and i’ve loved every visit. for more info, i’ll link her page right here if you’re ever interested!

farewell

this was a long blog post, but that just about summarizes this week’s recap. i’ll try to get my cinnamon roll vlog out by next week, but no promises unfortunately. looking forward to new restaurants and next week’s bake! i’m not sure whether i want to make filipino flan or some kind of italian pasta dish. i’ll get back to you when i’ve figured it out though :) thank you to everyone who read this far! for more daily takes, i’m usually on my @foodiefindss instagram account, so don’t forget to give it a look (and possibly a follow 🥰). as always, stay safe and i hope you have a great day.
